They need to eat something every couple of hours. They must eat more often than other kinds of people. Think of it like a sports car that has really low gas mileage. Fun to drive, but needs a lot of refueling. The kind of fuel they use is important. Running out of fuel is not an option for your brain.
Symptoms come quickly when you are too hungry or thirsty. Headaches, fuzzy thinking, lack of enthusiasm and being spacey force your body slow down to conserve energy. Your brain is greedy. It gets fed first.
Heavy foods take longer to digest, especially in the summer. There is no energy to move until the food is metabolized into energy to burn. Your body will not want to move, your mind will not be clear until it is digested.
Sugar and/or caffeine also slows you down. Both might give a quick surge of energy, but that energy drops off quickly…leaving you tired. Frequent snacks of fruit is a better choice for long term energy. Lighter food and lots of water keeps your body, mind and spirit active and playful all day.
